FAQ's

What tattoo should I get?

A tattoo is an extremely personal decision. It is something that you will wear with pride and as such it needs to be something you like and will be happy to have on your skin for life.

We don’t expect you to design your tattoo, that’s our job, but we do need some ideas of the kind of things you like.

You should give considerable thought to size and placement and how it may impact on your life in the future. Sadly, there are some people in the world that may judge you for your ink, which could affect your employment potential.

If you would like some inspiration, please check out our gallery page for some design ideas.

Does it hurt getting a tattoo?

Everyone has a different tolerance to pain and as such while one person might experience discomfort during an appointment, others find it oddly pleasurable. If you are concerned about your ability to manage your pain, please contact us ahead of your appointment. We strongly discourage the use of topical anesthetics and other skin numbing creams as these can affect the quality of your tattoo.

I know what I want, now what?

Great! When you have an idea of the kind of tattoo you would like, please drop in to the shop or contact us to book or discuss your appointment. Ahead of your appointment, please think carefully about the size, placement and style of tattoo that you want.

It would be really useful if you could collate images that reflect the kind of thing you’d like. Print offs, emails or images they all work for us. This will help us and we can then begin the design process.

At this stage, we will take a deposit for your tattoo, which will be part of the final cost, and arrange for a convenient time for you to come in.

How much will my tattoo cost?

At King Tattoo, every tattoo is unique and as such the price for each piece is different.

Once you have an idea of the work you would like done, please contact us and we’ll be able to discuss a competitive, honest price for your tattoo.

Bring snacks and fluids with you to consume during your appointment, this will help your well being during your tattoo.

Do not drink any alcohol prior and avoid being hungover. It might seem like a good idea if you’re nervous, but it really is the worst thing you can do. If we suspect you have been drinking, we will not tattoo you and you will lose your deposit.

You may want to bring an MP3 player and headphones to take your mind off any potential discomfort.

If you have any questions about your appointment, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Here at King Tattoo we have a minimum charge of £20.

How should I look after my new tattoo?

Your new tattoo will be with you for the rest of your life. Following the correct aftercare procedures will ensure that your tattoo looks as good as it can, for as long as possible.

We will provide you with bespoke tattoo aftercare advice as part of your appointment, but in general:

Keep the area clean.
Moisturize regularly using the product we advise at the time of your appointment.
Under no circumstances should you pick or scratch your new tattoo.
Allow the tattoo to heal naturally with air.
Do not pick the scabs as they form.
Let them heal and fall off on their own.
Keep your new tattoo out of the sun, the rays can damage the pigment and sun lotions can irritate the skin
Do not listen to advice from others.
We know the best way to look after your new tattoo and will advise you personally
